Last week, the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy has announced first details of new policies regarding financing of innovations with public grants.
New instruments that will be launched this year include:
Critical Technology Support Fund (Fundusz Wsparcia Technologii Krytycznej) with a budget of PLN 4 billion (approx. EUR 1 billion) to support entrepreneurs in their investments into biotechnology, digital technologies, clean and so-called resource-efficient technologies.
Another PLN 800 million (approx. EUR 200 million) would be allocated to the Digital and Environmentally Friendly Transformation Fund (Fundusz Transformacji Cyfrowej i Przyjaznej dla Środowiska) with an aim to support transformation of businesses towards Industry 4.0 and green technologies.
This is in addition to the already existing programmes supporting R&D and R&D implementation. In particular, more than PLN 2,3 billion (approx. EUR 800 million) is already allocated to different versions of Ścieżka Smart (Smart Track) programme in 2025. This includes upcoming (end of March 2025) intake for application to Ścieżka Smart addressed to consortium of companies or companies and research entities offering up to PLN 150 million (approx. EUR 37 million) of financing for R&D project and / or implementation of R&D.
This is only a selected part of programmes of public financing available at a national level. There are also number of options for public financing of innovation at a regional level. After all, Poland is among the largest beneficiaries of EU funds in EU.
And yes, new businesses coming to Poland may benefit from these grants 😊
